Glen R. Wuthrich
Glen “Pete” R. Wuthrich, 82, Nappanee, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen.
Pete was born on Jan. 20, 1934, in Milford to Peter and Laura (Graff) Wuthrich. He married Marilyn (Sutton) on Oct. 5, 1956. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary together in 2006. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2011.
Pete was a lifetime area resident, graduating from Milford High School in 1952. He spent most of his working career, 32 years, at Phend & Brown Inc. of Milford, before retiring as superintendent of asphalt paving operations in 1996. He was baptized as an adult with the Living Gospel Church of Nappanee.
Among the best things he ever did was to marry his wife of 54 years, Marilyn. He was a steady and supportive husband and father that understood and taught the value of hard work. A playful and engaging grandfather, he loved sharing a joke, a playful tease or a good game of Euchre. He was a social and engaging friend to many, spanning generations and multiple coffee shops. He lived a life that he could reflect on with pride, becoming a leader at work, putting 4 kids through college, retiring at 62 with the ability travel, play golf and spend winter months in Florida. This husband, father, grandfather and friend will be sorely missed.
Pete is survived by his four sons: Rich (Amy) Wuthrich of Roselle, Ill.; Ron (Mary Lynn) Wuthrich of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; Rex (Beth) Wuthrich of La Grange, Ky.; and Ryan (Carla) Wuthrich of Hinesburg, Vt.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his sister: Irene (Jim) Sumpter of Milford.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Marilyn; brothers: Wayne, Harlan, and Donald Wuthrich; and parents: Peter and Laura Wuthrich.
