Kennel Granted Approval By BZA
WARSAW — A much lighter agenda than normal — there were only five cases heard — marked the regular monthly meeting of the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals Tuesday, May 10, in Warsaw.
Michael Lehman was granted an exception to allow a home based business, an animal kennel, on property zoned agricultural on CR 150E where it dead ends at the railroad tracks in Van Buren Township. Lehman will be allowed to have up to 25 dogs maximum at the kennel.
He still must have state approval for the kennel and have it inspected by the county board of health. Lehman plans to have a building with room for the dogs to run, but there will be no boarding at the kennel.
Other agenda items included:
• Justin Bultemeier was granted a variance to allow a portion of a deck to remain 3 feet from the east property line. The property is on the north side of Hatchery Road, south of Marine Key Drive in Turkey Creek Township.
• Mark Borkholder was granted an exception to allow a home based business, a building that will serve as a community, youth and banquet center, on property zoned agricultural on the east side of CR 1100W, north of CR 1350N in Scott Township. The property is in the far northwest corner of Kosciusko County.
• Charles Kirschenmann was granted a variance to permit construction of an enclosed porch on top of an existing deck on the north side of EMS T30 Lane in Plain Township.
• Willian and Linda Cripe were granted an exception to allow an oversized accessory building on the southwest side of Southshore Drive at the intersection with SR 13 in Turkey Creek Township. It will be combined with their residential lot.
• During the hearing officer portion of the agenda Monday, May 9, Torrent Holdings was granted a variance to permit the construction of an office addition on the north side of Bell Drive at the intersection with Boeing Road in Plain Township in the Airport Industrial Park.
