Tennis Squad Pulls Out Glenn Invite Title
After a tough first matchup, Triton found its stride to win the John Glenn Girls Tennis Invite Saturday afternoon.
LaLumiere gave Triton everything they could handle in the first semi-final, but third set tiebreakers went the Trojans way. Quinn Downing at No. 3 singles went 10-8 against Tally Wolf in the third set after each split 6-4 wins in the first two sets. No. 2 doubles also went long, with Tatum Thompson and Megan McFarland coming back from a 6-2 loss in the first set to win 6-0, 10-5 against Mary Adam and Karalyn Knight.
Emma Ross and Hannah Wanemacher gave Triton a simpler result with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Rachael Yeml and Megan Jeliner.
LaLumiere’s Beco Gomar at No. 2 singles cruised past Siera Sauer love and love and at No. 1 singles, Natalie McGulkin bested Shayla May one and four.
In the final against host John Glenn, order restored for the Trojans in a 4-1 final. May came back to win two and three while Downing swept through a love and love victory. Both Triton doubles teams won one and love. Siera Sauer was the lone loss in a two and one final, subbing in the day for Kolbie Mason, Triton’s usual No. 2 singles player.
The Triton team is 12-1 overall and will visit South Bend Riley Monday afternoon.

Softball Splits With West Central
In the first-ever meeting between the two clubs, Triton and West Central split the Hoosier North Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday in Francesville.
In the game one win, Courtney Jennings was super in the circle. Jennings fired a three-hitter, walking just two and fanning nine. Jennings also helped her cause at the plate with an RBI, and had plenty of help.
Nicole Sechrist continues to be clutch with runners on base, ripping a three-run triple as part of a four RBI game. Taytum Hargrave was 3-4 at the plate with three runs scored and Kayla Kreft was 2-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.
Game two saw some lineup shifting for the Trojans, and West Central took advantage. The hosts picked up 10 hits off pitcher Sechrist, and brought across six earned runs. Sara Bernal got the win for West Central, scattering eight hits over the seven innings.
Sechrist, Hargrave and Kreft all doubled and Zoee Stephan tripled in the loss.
