Tippecanoe Valley Track: Vikings Post Two Wins
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley track teams each rolled to wins over Culver Thursday night.
The Valley ladies posted an 89-30 win, while the boys squad collected an 82-40 victory over the visiting Cavaliers.
Lexi O’Connell led the way for the Valley girls team. The senior standout won the 100 hurdles and also took first place in the 200 in a top time of 27.31.
Haley Hoover also collected a pair of individual wins for the hosts. She won the 1,600 in 7:05.6 and took the 3,200 in 15:25.
Also winning for the Valley girls team were Sarah Tucker in the 100 (14.22), Makayla Ruiz in the shot put (34-1), Gabby Olson in the long jump (13-1.5), Alyssa Britto in the 400 (1:07.05), Breanna Kruger in 300 hurdles (53.98) and Cora Alber in the discus (82-2.5).
Valley also took first in all three relay events, winning the 4 X 800 in 12:34, the 4 X 100 in 53.88 and 4 X 400 in 5:01.09.
Josh Back was a double winner on the boys side to pace the Viking win. Back captured firsts in the 1,600 in a time of 5:57.81 and also won the 3,200 with a top effort of 13:23.
Other winners for the boys team were Jared Mikel in the 100 hurdles, Justin Peconga in the high jump (5-4), Neil Clampitt in the long jump (19-5), Jordan Owens in the 800 (2:21) and Jameson Baker in the discus (116-1).
The Vikings also won all three of the relay races, taking first in the 4 X 800 in 9:29, the 4 X 100 in 45.82 and the 4 X 400 in 3:44.44.
Valley is scheduled to compete in the Three Rivers Conference Meet on Tuesday night at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.
