Free Comic Book Day Celebrates 15 Years
WARSAW — Break out your favorite cosplay and head to Chimp’s Comix, located at 919 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7, for the 15th year of Free Comic Book Day.
While cosplay isn’t necessary, it is encouraged, just because it’s fun. Cosplay is the combined and shortened word of costume play. Many fans enjoy dressing as their favorite fictional characters.
According to owner Nick Kelley, the event will offer new comics this year and some from last year and it’s entirely possible to walk out of Chimp’s with 78 titles.
Just showing up will net two free comics. Bringing one non-perishable food item (no glass containers) nets a free comic. The food items will be given to the Salvation Army, who distributes them to those in need in Kosciusko County. While bringing 78 cans of corn will allow a person 78 comics, remember; variety is the spice of life. Keep in mind, though, while donations do allow you to obtain additional comics, one of each comic is the limit per customer.
Bring the kids to enjoy the all ages comics: “Pokemon,” “Sonic,” “Spongebob,” plus many more. Some other comic highlights are: “DC Superhero Girls,” “Suicide Squad” and “Civil War.”
