Wawasee Sports Wrap: May 4
Plymouth Bests Wawasee On Track
The Wawasee boys track team hosted Plymouth Thursday night for the conclusion of the regular season. The visiting Pilgrims won the majority of the events to take home an 84-39 victory, dropping Wawasee to 0-8 for the season.
Cole VanLue (11.85) won the 100 meter dash for one of Wawasee’s three wins on the night. Luke Griner (43.40) won the 300 hurdles and Sam Griner (2:11.81) emerged as the winner in the 800 run.
Alec Rosbrugh (12.45) won the JV 100 meter dash for Wawasee.
“The boys competed well on senior night,” Wawasee coach Scott Lancaster offered. “The conditions controlled the meet as it seemed like a blustery, late November day instead of May. The wind made the pole vault unsafe so that event was not contested.
“I have to hand it to the distance guys from both teams, they went out and competed despite the conditions, it was brutal. We had good performances from Sam Griner and Cole VanLue and Luke Griner shiner in the intermediate hurdles.”
Wawasee competes in the NLC championships on Tuesday at Warsaw.
