Tippecanoe Valley Softball: Vikings Go Cold At Northfield
WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley softball team ran into a red-hot pitcher on a cold night Wednesday.
Paige Holley did it in the circle and at the plate to pace host Northfield past the Vikings 9-2 in Three Rivers Conference action.
Holley allowed just three singles, while striking out 11 and walking just two in the league win. She also had three hits at the dish, including a triple, for the winners.
The Vikings were outhit 11-3 and committed five errors in the game. Valley led 2-1 before Northfield scored three times in the third frame to take the lead for good. The hosts then plated two more runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth frame for the final.
Katie Gunter had a hit and scored two runs to pace Valley. Amanda Shepherd had a hit and an RBI and Raechel Torpy a hit for the Vikings.
Gunter took the pitching loss as she allowed four earned runs in four innings of work with no walks and one strikeout.
Ally Keaffaber had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs for Northfield.
Valley drops to 6-10 overall and goes to 0-4 in the TRC. Northfield improves to 5-7 overall and moves to 1-4 in league play.
Valley plays at Southwood Thursday in another TRC matchup.
