UPDATE: Plymouth Student Involved In Sunday Mornings Accident
PLYMOUTH — Alexander Rostron, 16, Plymouth, is in stable but critical condition at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, following a one-vehicle accident found early Sunday morning at Veterans Parkway near US 31.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department reports at approximately 5:19 a.m. an off-duty South Bend firefighter/medic noticed a vehicle off the south side of Veterans Parkway, east of the intersection with US 31.
The driver was identified as Rostron, who is a Plymouth High School student and was the only occupant of the vehicle. It is believed Rostron was traveling home from an after-prom party in the Plymouth area.
Evidence at the scene suggested his 2006 Honda traveled off the south side of the roadway. The first point of impact was in the bottom of the ditch line where the majority of the damage to the vehicle was sustained. The vehicle then impacted with a fence row before coming to a final stop.
Rostron was able to exit the vehicle and was later found by the firefighter/medic. It is unknown the exact time of the accident, or how long he had been lying in the ditch.
There was no evidence at the scene that alcohol was a factor, but results are still pending. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is still continuing to investigate contributing factors to the cause of the collision.
