Tippecanoe Valley Baseball: Vikings Blast Bruins
GOSHEN – The Tippecanoe Valley baseball team got back into the win column in a big way Tuesday night.
The Vikings scored early and often to blast Bethany Christian 14-1 in a five-inning non-conference affair at Bethany.
Valley, which had just two singles in a 4-2 conference loss at Southwood Monday night, plated six runs in the first inning versus the Bruins. The Vikings then scored seven more times in the second frame en route to the rout.
Valley outhit the Bruins 9-4, including smacking three extra-base hits in the win. The Vikings also had no errors in the contest, while the hosts committed four.
Hunter Early notched the pitching win as he went the distance, allowing just the four hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks.
Alec Craig continued his impressive offensive work by going 2-2 and reaching base four times. He scored three runs, drove in a pair and stole four bases in the win.
Jay Meyers was 2-2 with a pair of doubles to go with two RBI and two runs scored. Luke Helton had two hits, two RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases. Gavin Bussard had a hit, an RBI, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.
Eric Hammer had a double and two RBI for the Vikings. Garrett Bell had a hit and scored a pair of runs.
Valley returns to Three Rivers Conference play with a league contest at Northfield Wednesday.
