Grace Golf: Schram Second In League Championship
ANGOLA – The Grace College men’s golf team was led by Jonathan Schram at the 2016 Crossroads League Championship on Monday and Tuesday.
Schram finished second on the individual leaderboard, firing a 213 for the three-round tournament.
The Lancers placed seventh overall as a team at Glendarin Hills Golf Club.
Schram, a former Warsaw Tiger, got off to a torrid start in the tournament and was tied for the individual lead after the first round. He birdied four holes to card a 2-under 70 for the opening 18 holes on Monday. He finished the second round on Monday with a 74.
The third round produced Schram’s best in a valiant run at the medalist honor. He shot a sizzling 69—the tournament’s lowest score on Tuesday—thanks to three birdies and an eagle on the fifth hole.
Trey Turner from Taylor claimed the medalist honors, just three strokes better than Schram’s tally.
Kyle Condon, returning to the golf team this spring after a year’s absence, finished as the team’s No. 2 scorer. He shot an impressive 77-75 on Monday and finished with a 79 in his final collegiate round on Tuesday.
Chad Spencer finished third for the Lancers, including a third-round 75, and Tyler Ham carded a consistent 77-79-79. Cameron Bates rounded out Grace’s scoring to end his freshman season, producing a 246 for the tourney.
