Concord Tabs Cepeda As New Girls Hoops Coach
ELKHART – Cassie Cepeda was named as the new Concord High School girls basketball coach on Monday.
Cepeda has spent the past four years as an assistant coach for the girls basketball program at LaPorte High School. The Slicers posted a 70-25 record during that time, including winning a Class 4-A sectional championship during the 2015-16 season.
Cepeda replaces Dan Ross, who resigned in late February after four seasons at Concord. Ross was 26-64 at CHS, including a 5-18 overall mark and an 0-7 record in the Northern Lakes Conference this past season.
Cepeda is a graduate of LaPorte and Loyola University (Chicago). She played basketball for four years and soccer for two in high school. This will be her first basketball head coaching position, although she did serve as the girls soccer coach at LaPorte in 2015.
Cepeda, who is currently a teacher at LaPorte, is slated to teach physical education and business at CHS.
