Warsaw Softball: Vikings Captain The Ship
WARSAW – Huntington North crushed the softball in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader, mashing Warsaw 19-1 and 20-2.
Game one saw Huntington score 18 unanswered runs, and the entire lineup had a say in the matter. Kelsie Vogleman and Mackenzi Cannici both had four hits in three runs scored. Aubrie Eckert, Ariene Butler and Bailey Hughes each drove in three runs, Eckert sending a ball out of the yard.
Hannah Middlebrooks got the win, allowing just four hits. The only damage for Warsaw came from a solo homer by Lauren Shaffner.
In game two, Warsaw managed just three hits against Kendra Arnold. Abby Glass and Grace Johnson doubled, but that was about it for the Tigers.
Middlebrooks was the offensive hero, crushing a grand slam and driving in five overall. Butler and Alexa Hill each had three hits and combined for five RBIs.
Warsaw was mired in fielding trouble on top of the Viking hit parade, committing 12 errors in the two games.
Warsaw (3-12) will host Elkhart Memorial Monday night in the final game of the first round of the Northern Lakes Conference round robin.
