Whitko Baseball: Wildcats Not Bluffing
BLUFFTON – Whitko jumped all over Bluffton Saturday in baseball action, taking a 13-3 non-conference win.
The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but rain forced the teams into just one meeting. Whitko made the most of the opportunity, scoring three runs in the first and five more in the second, settling into an 8-3 lead.
The Wildcats had plenty of contributors, led by Garrett Smiley’s two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. Riley Anderson and Hunter Sroufe both had two hits and combined for four RBIs and a run scored.
Anderson was efficient on the mound, working five innings. After giving up three runs in the first two innings, Anderson settled down to allow just six hits and walked nine, striking out two.
Matt Hilton smacked a homer for Bluffton.
Whitko moves to 9-4 overall and will visit Northfield Monday in a key Three Rivers Conference matchup.
