Warsaw Tennis: Rain Keeps Delta Invite From Take-off
MUNCIE – Four state-ranked girls’ tennis teams came to the Delta Invitational on Saturday, and the big winner was … the rain.
The tournament was washed out by mid-morning. Only two of the 11 scheduled matches were played.
No. 12 Delta defeated Madison-Grant 4-0 in a rain-shortened match at the Eagles’ courts.
No. 17 Fort Wayne Carroll beat Yorktown 3-0 in a rain-shortened match at the Tigers’ courts.
No. 28 Hamilton Southeastern and No. 30 Warsaw did not get to start their opening matches.
In the Delta match, sophomore Emma Snider won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and sophomore Grace Belangee won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Seniors Sarah Ogle and Emily Decker won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Warsaw will get back to work Tuesday in the Northern Lakes Conference in hosting NorthWood.
