Trojans Repeat At Marshall County Invite
Triton won its second straight title at the Marshall County Golf Invite, shooting a 339 Saturday morning at Mystic Hills Golf Course.
Fighting through the rain, the Trojans had Jordan Anderson shoot an 80, Braden Kreft an 82, Isaac Wall an 86, Bryce Swihart a 91 and Beau Hepler a 92. Anderson’s score was good for medalist honors in the tournament.
Triton returns to the course Thursday for a trio with Oregon-Davis and host Bremen at Sprig-O-Mint.
Triton Takes First, Sort Of, At Concord
Trying to manage the impending rain in Dunlap, Concord adjusted its tennis invite to a pro-set style, but the rain persisted. Among it, Triton and Concord wound up the default winners with five courts victorious as play was halted in the second round.
Triton and Concord each had five courts completed and were into the second round of play when the invite was called. Shayla May beat Elkhart Central 8-3, Kolbie Mason beat Lakeland 8-2, Quinn Downing beat West Noble 8-4, Emma Ross and Hannah Wanemacher beat West Noble 8-3 and Tatum Thompson and Megan McFarland beat Mishawaka Marian 8-2.
Downing was the only Trojan player to get her second round match in, winning 8-2 over Marian. May and Mason both were in action and neither doubles team had started.
Marian had four courts win and Elkhart Central and West Noble had two wins each.
Triton will visit Bethany Christian Monday.
Rain Washes Out Softball Triangle At ECA
Rain kept Triton from getting going at the ECA round robin matchups in north Dunlap.
NorthWood beat Elkhart Christian 23-8 in game one, and the Panthers and Eagles were to take on Triton in the next two contests. Rain then halted play, ending the day. A make-up for the contests were not immediately announced.
Triton will have a tough one on its hands Tuesday with a visit to Class 2-A power Bremen.
