Tippecanoe Valley Track: Vikings Show Well In Glenn Invite
WALKERTON – Lexi O’Connell led the way for the Tippecanoe Valley track teams in the John Glenn Invitational Friday night.
O’Connell picked up a pair of individual wins to lead her team to a second-place finish in the team standings on the girls’ side.
O’Connell won both the 200 dash in a top time of 27.86 and the 100 hurdles in 16.25 to pace the Vikings.
The Valley ladies totaled 108 points to finish in second place behind team champion Knox, which finished with 121 points. Jimtown was third with 107 points, followed by LaVille (105), Oregon-Davis (58), Glenn (54), Westville (24) and Culver (13).
The trio of Sarah Tucker, Anna Walters and Makayla Ruiz each also picked up victories for Valley. Tucker won the 100 dash in 13.63, while Walters was first in the 800 in a time of 2:41.84 and Ruiz won the shot put with a top throw of 34-04.
The Valley boys won a pair of relay events in the invite. The 4 X 100 team of Neil Clampitt, Gavin Good, Jon Fields and Dakota Parker was victorious in a time of 46/06. The trio of Clampitt, Good and Parker teamed with Jared Mikel to win the 4 X 400 relay race in 3:30.40.
Clampitt led the individual efforts for the Vikings. He placed second in the 200 dash with a time of 23.60 and was also second in the long jump with a top effort of 18-11.50.
The Valley boys team finished in fifth place in the team standings with 87 points. Jimtown won the boys team title with 143 points. LaVille was second with 116.5 points, followed by Knox (107.5), Glenn (89), Valley (87), Culver (31), Oregon-Davis (18) and Westville (13).
Both Valley teams are slated to host Culver next Thursday.
