Rose Nell Wallace Holdeman
Rose Nell Wallace Holdeman, 93, Nappanee, passed peacefully into heaven at 9:55 am, Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She spent her last hours praying and singing hymns with her family. She was born May 20, 1922 in Bushnell, Neb. to Dorsey and Rebecca (Burgess) Wallace.
Mrs. Holdeman attended Clinton Schools in Clinton. On Oct. 12, 1946, she married Rev. Ralph Marvin Holdeman in Mishawaka. He preceded her in death April 9, 1992. Rev. and Mrs. Holdeman moved to Nappanee in 1978 from Mishawaka. They pioneered and he was the first pastor at the County Line Assembly of God in Nappanee. He was pastor there from 1964 – 1985. This church became the New Beginnings Assembly of God in 2000, when they built the new church south of Nappanee. This church was destroyed in the 2007 tornado and was then relocated and is still active today in Nappanee.
Mrs. Holdeman retired from Uniroyal after working there for 24 years. Rose had a zest for life, her passion was for Jesus Christ, her savior and for her family. She loved reading her Bible. Rose also enjoyed adult coloring books, writing in her daily diary, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her church friends.
Surviving are her children: Lynette (Mike) Eash, New Paris; Adele Holdeman, Mishawaka; Ralph M. (Kathy) Holdeman II, Richmond; son-in-law: Rick Lowry, Wakarusa; grandchildren: Jolene (Rodney) Cripe Julie Swingle, Kevin (Stephanie) Eash, Travis (Maura) Eash, Zack (Amy) Holdeman, Josh (Kristen) Holdeman, Keilah (Dylan) Shope; great grandchildren: Drew Cripe, Legand Larimore, Sharlie, Billie Jillian, Grant, Sydney, Parker Holdeman, Ellis, Elliana, Aavyn Shope, Micah Holdeman, and Chloe Rose Eash.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Janet Lowry; sisters: Frances Kiser, Rachel Walkup, Ansel Green, Maxine Beard; and brothers: Erman Dorsey, Richard, Kenneth, and Joe Wallace.
Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, at New Beginnings Assembly of God. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 4 at the Church. Rev. Ralph Holdeman II will officiate assisted by Rev. Mick Tomlison, Pastor, New Beginnings. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.
