Triton Tennis: Trojans Remain On Warpath
LAKEVILLE – Triton remained perfect in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference and overall with a 5-0 win Thursday at LaVille.
Triton earned its second win over LaVille in eight days, with only one court not offering a shutout. The No. 2 doubles matchup between Megan McFarland and Tatum Thompson went three sets against Brianna Lindke and Sydney Han, with the Lancer duo taking set one 7-5. The Bourbon pair rallied to take set two 6-2, and after a battle in set three, Triton came out on top 6-4.
Everything else wasn’t close. Shayla May and Kolbie Mason both pitched shutouts at one and two singles over Rachel Russ and Emily Cain. At No. 3, Quinn Downing gave up only two games to Charlet Kapke, two and love. At one doubles, Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross dropped just one game in the second set to Karli Watts and Savannah Lucas.
The Triton JV beat LaVille 3-2 to move to 6-1 in its limited duty this season.
Triton moves to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the HNAC. The Trojan tennis program hasn’t lost a court in the HNAC in its five matchups with just one more matchup with Knox Tuesday at home. Triton’s next task on the schedule is a loaded Concord Invite this Saturday that features the always-tough Minutemen, but also Mishawaka Marian which is among the regarded teams in the Northern Indiana Conference.
