Whitko Second, Wawasee Fifth At Turtle Town Relays
CHURUBUSCO — The annual Turtle Town Relays were held Saturday morning and saw Westview and East Noble emerge as champions of their respective divisions. The Knights won the gold division with a score of 148 while the Warriors took first in the black division with a 102.5.
Local teams Whitko and Wawasee also competed in the 22-team field. The Wildcats scored 76 points and tied for second in the black division with Manchester while Wawasee took fifth in the gold division with 60 points.
Kaitlyn Reed grabbed first in the high jump with a 5-05 and also in the long jump with her jump of 16-05. Reed was also second in the 100 meter dash (13.25) and the 200 meter dash (27.71).
Other notable finishers for Whitko included Suzanne Sickafoose’s second place finish in the 400 dash (1:02.12) and Brigit Nemitz’s efforts in the distance events. Nemitz took third in the 1600 meter run (5:39.36) and was second in the 3200 with a time of 12:13.11.
Whitko’s relays finished sixth (4×400) and seventh (4×800).
Hannah-Marie Lamle was the lone Warrior to find the top spot on a podium. The sophomore won the 300 hurdles with a time 49.66. Lamle also took third in the 100 hurdles.
Wawasee’s other notable finishers were Jada Parzygnot, Alexis Manges and Katlyn Kennedy. Parzygnot took third in pole vault (8-00), Manges was third in discus (118.04) and Kennedy was third in shot (36-06.5).
Wawasee took third in the 4×100 relay and later claimed fourth in both the 4×800 and 4×400.
