Tigers Shut Out Pilgrims
Jordan Jones threw a dandy of a game Friday at Bill Nixon Stadium, tossing a three-hitter to give Warsaw a 2-0 win at Plymouth.
Jones scattered the three hits over seven innings as Warsaw used two RBIs from Henry Howard to get the job done for its second NLC win of the week. Warsaw had five hits overall.
The Warsaw JV lost to Plymouth 2-0. The Tigers mustered just two hits, both from Jared Hawley.
Warsaw (4-3, 2-1 NLC) will host Kokomo Saturday for a doubleheader.
Softball Smokes Plymouth
Warsaw opened up the flood gates Friday in its home park, blowing out Plymouth 21-5 in NLC softball.
An eruption of nine runs in the first and another eight in the second inning was by far the largest offensive outburst Warsaw has had this season. The Tigers added four more runs in the fourth to make it official.
Warsaw cracked 15 hits and also worked 12 walks in the contest, led by three hits and five RBIs from Abby Glass, who doubled twice and also scored twice.
Courtney Chookie also had three hits and drove in four, and Morgan Ashtari added three RBIs and three runs scored.
Chookie got the win in the circle, working three innings.
Warsaw (2-6, 2-1 NLC) will visit Valparaiso Saturday for a doubleheader.
Tigers Bounce Back With Tennis Win
After losing a tough match to Fairfield one night ago, Warsaw rallied with a quality girls tennis win Friday against visiting Fort Wayne Concordia.
All three singles teams that were on the losing end Thursday came back to win Friday. Ella Knight stood out, taking a one and love win at No. 3 against Hannah Gerig, with Colette Smith also getting a shutout in the first set of her love and four win at No. 2 versus Satomi Masaki. Liza Lewis closed out at No. 1 with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Charity Felton.
Warsaw’s Hannah Rice and Athena Schlitt won with ease at No. 1 doubles, taking a two and one result over Lauren Sgro and Abby Minger. At No. 2 doubles, Concordia’s Shelby Senger and Erica Shively put away Grace Miller and Chelsy Farling two and two.
In the JV matches, Warsaw took a 9-5 table against Concordia. Results were as follows:
