Gonzales Arrested Following Family Disturbance
MENTONE — Doby Gonzales, 43, 401 N. Morgan St., Mentone, was arrested Thursday evening, April 21, on a warrant for battery to a family or household member with a child under 16 present and battery causing moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies, and battery, a class A misdemeanor.
An affidavit of probable cause, filed by Mentone Police Chief Jim Eads Sunday, April 17, states on April 5, Mentone Police were called to a family disturbance at Gonzales’ residence. Police spoke with a female who stated Gonzales and two other individuals were arguing when Gonzales became angry and assaulted one of the individuals.
The victim, who also resides at the residence, told police he, a friend and Gonzales were arguing when Gonzales began calling him names. Gonzales then picked up a chair using it to pin him against the sink, causing a red mark to his face. Gonzales also grabbed the victim by the arm causing scratches. Gonzales was reportedly highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
A juvenile under the age of 16 was present when the alleged battery took place.
Gonzales is being held on $5,000 surety and $1,000 cash bond in the Kosciusko County Jail.
