Bailey To Throw And Spike At Manchester
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior Emily Bailey has understood and lived the role of a multiple-sport athlete throughout her high school career, and the gifted senior will continue serving in multiple capacities as she announced her commitment to Manchester University this coming fall where she will participate in both volleyball and track and field for the Spartans.
Bailey, a three-year letter winner for the Tigers, has emerged as one of the top throwers in the area with personal bests of 34-10 in the shot and 98-10 in the discus. Bailey was awarded the 2014 Throw Coaches’ Award for the Tigers after her sophomore season, and she captured the Regional Rumble title in Portage, a Kokomo Relays title, and was named the Tigers’ MVT – Most Valuable Thrower – in 2015.
On the volleyball court, Bailey has played two years with the Tigers and four years with club volleyball with NIVA and the Dunes Volleyball Club, where she participated on three national teams.
Not only has Bailey made her marks for Tiger athletics, through her dedication and efforts, she has served others in the school and school community, serving as volunteer assistant coach for Leesburg Elementary volleyball and basketball from 2014-16, and is a National Honor Society Public Relations Officer as well as a member of Student Council. The senior standout has also earned the 2016 Scholastic Art Award Cold Key and Honorable Mention in AP Studio Art Portfolio.
In addition to being a standout with her groups and organizations, as well as her service, Bailey has done so while also excelling in the classroom, earning a tremendous 12.06 cumulative grade point average (on a 12-point scale).
Bailey plans to major in Elementary Education at Manchester and immerse herself in Spartan athletics participating for volleyball coach Bryndon Paulsen’s squad and track and field coach Brian Cashdollar’s team.
