Warsaw Sports Wrap: April 19
Plymouth Sends Tennis Message
In one of the key early-season matchups in Northern Lakes Conference girls tennis, Plymouth beat Warsaw 4-1 at Warsaw.
The Plymouth doubles teams gave up just eight games in picking up both court wins. Kendall Dreibelbis and McKenzie Scheetz took down Hannah Rice and Athena Schlitt two and three while Kayla Hoover and Leah Smith beat Grace Miller and Chelsey Farling one and two.
Lanae Singleton kept her name at the top of the heap of major players at No. 1 singles in the conference, rolling past Liza Lewis two and one while Cortini Cook went extras in the second set, taking the tiebreaker 8-6 to claim a 6-3, 7-6 win against Ella Knight at No. 3.
Warsaw’s lone court triumph came from Colette Smith, who bested Ashley Harrell 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2.
Warsaw went 7-2 in JV matches, with results as follows:

The Lady Tigers (1-2 overall, 0-1 NLC) travel to Northridge tomorrow night for another huge NLC showdown, and wrap up four matches in four days Thursday with a home match with Fairfield and Friday again at home against Fort Wayne Concordia.
Tiger Track Claims Another Victim
Warsaw remained perfect in the Northern Lakes Conference in girls track after a 101-31 romp of Goshen Tuesday at Fisher Field.
The Lady Tigers scored two in the top three in 10 individual events while sweeping the 100 and 200 dashes, the two-mile, high jump and long jump.
Warsaw spread the wealth in its control of the meet, with nine different individuals winning events. Sam Alexander was the only Tiger to win two events on her own, taking the long jump at 17-01.75 and running the fourth-fastest time in Warsaw’s 100-meter dash history at 12:57.
Winning for Warsaw were Audrey Rich in the 200 (26.25), Brooke Rhodes in the 400 (1:02.86), Mia Beckham in the 800 with a three-second personal record (2:23.30), Claire Kehler in the 1,600 (5:37.56), Allison Miller in the 3,200 (11:48.11), Emily Bailey in the shot put (33-02), Alexie Day in the high jump with a personal best 5-4, and Nikki Parrett in the pole vault (8-0).
All three of the relays were tops for Warsaw, with Hannah Dawson, Anna Craig, Beckham and Miller taking the 4×800 at 9:51.41, the 4×100 of Maygan Bellamy, Abbi Curtis, Rich and Alexander breaking 50.00 for the first time this season at 49.99, and the 4×400 of Kenzie Martz, Remi Beckham, Bellamy and Rich setting a season-best time of 4:12.86.
Remi Beckham was second in the 400 and high jump and Bellamy was second in the 300 hurdles with a personal best to highlight some of the runner-up totals.
Warsaw will host NorthWood and Concord next Tuesday in NLC action, but first head to Saturday’s Southport Relays.
Sluggers Pick Up Another Win
The Warsaw baseball team notched another victory Tuesday night.
The Tigers downed host South Bend Clay 7-4 to move to 3-2 on the season.Warsaw scored nine runs on seven hits and committed four errors. Braxton Tennant picked up the win for the Orange and Black while Blake Foreman had the save. Henry Howard and Foreman each recorded two hits in the game.
Warsaw’s JV had its game end in a 5-5 tie after the game was called for darkness.
Warsaw will play at Goshen Wednesday night.
