Work At SR 19 And CR 38 Continues, Left Turn To Be Added
ELKHART COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that CR. 38, just east of SR 19 in Elkhart County, is scheduled to close Friday, April 22, weather permitting. The closure is part of the SR 19 added turn lane project at CR 38.
Motorists should watch for traffic to be shifted to the newly constructed southbound lane while the left turn lane is built. During this phase of construction, the east leg of CR 38 will be closed to through-traffic, with a 12-foot lane maintained for residents to access their homes.
An advisory speed of 45 will be in effect through the construction zone. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution when traveling through any active construction zone.
The project is scheduled to be completed in late fall, weather permitting. It is being constructed in conjunction with added left turn lanes at CR 52, which are currently under construction. The contract for the joint project was awarded to Walsh & Kelly, Inc., for $2.9 million.
