Wheeler Conley
Wheeler Conley 81, Rochester, passed away at 6:29 a.m. Monday April 18, 2016, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
He was born on June 22, 1934 in Salyersville, Ky., the son of Bernie and Trenie E. (Cooper) Conley. He served with the United States Army as a Military Police Officer during the Korean War. In 1956, in Athens, Inda. he married Vada Shepherd. She preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2009.
Mr. Conley was the owner and operator of Wheeler Conley and Sons Coal Sales for over forty eight years. He had also driven for New Holland Ford. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, American Legion, and the Eagles Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and trucking.
Survivors include his daughters: Priscilla and husband Jimmy Nash, Mentone; Cheryl and husband Dan Felda, Monterey; sons: Terry Conley, Rochester; Timothy and wife Candi Conley, Rochester; Bart and wife Trina Conley, Rochester; Matthew Conley, Rochester; sixteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers: Wade Conley, Kewanna; Bernie Conley Jr., Hinckley, Ill.; and sister: June Patrick, Valparaiso.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jenny Lynn Conley; sisters, Trixie Puckett, Bessie Enyart and Julia Conley; brothers, Walter Conley, Ross Conley, Russ Conley, Bob Conley, Forrest Conley and Will Conley.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Friday April 22, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Pastor Thad Stewart officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
