Gerald Klopp
Gerald ” Jerry” Klopp, 82, of Rochester, passed away at IU Health Arnett, in Lafayette on Saturday, April 16, 2016.
On May 1, 1933 in Chicago, Gerald Roy Klopp was born. He was a treasured son of William and Helen Blessing Klopp. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Sharon and a brother Bill.
In Chicago on Jan. 5, 1952 Jerry married the love of his life Alverna Ulrich Klopp. Over the years they became best friends and shared more than 60 years of life’s adventures. From their union came three wonderful children. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A truck driving professional, Jerry drove for Carolina Freight, day trips around the Chicago – Gary area. He was a loyal member for the Teamsters Local # 705. Jerry was a 45 year member of the Azure Lodge #1153 out of Western Springs, Ill. He served two terms as past master.
An avid American sportsman, Jerry enjoyed fishing. He annually traveled to Canada to catch the limit of the Northern Pike. He was also a member of Rochester’s Country Lanes Men’s League.
Left to cherish his memory are a daughter: Linda Townsend, Rochester; two sons: Gerald “Jerry” Roy Klopp Jr. and companion Mary Toomey, of Ill.; William “Bill” Klopp and wife Geraldine of Logansport; three grandchildren: Silveria Zamora, Roy Zamora and wife Sheri, Matthew Klopp; a sister: Sharon Mendoza of Ill.; a brother: William “Bill” Klopp of Ill. and his cherished canine companion China, a tan and black Chorkie.
Friends will be received by the family of Mr. Jerry Klopp from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. The Knox Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service at 2:30. Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm EST at the Leiter’s Ford Cemetery.
