Triton Softball: Stichter The Hero At Rochester
ROCHESTER – Late heroics by Heather Stichter helped Triton to a big softball win Friday night. A double in the seventh inning plated two, enough for Triton to rally past Rochester 2-1.
Megan Berger started the rally in the seventh getting hit by a Lexi Holland pitch, then Hannah Woodard singled to put two runners on. Stichter stepped up and cracked a double to left center, bringing home to the tying and go-ahead runs. All this happened with two outs.
Courtney Jennings closed the door in the bottom of the frame, getting three groundouts around an Alexa Holland single. Jennings scattered seven hits and struck out just one for her first win of the season.
Rochester got its lone run in the sixth on a two-out hit from Taryn Stockberger.
Triton moves to 2-1 with the win, its third game in as many days. The Trojans will play its fourth game in a row Saturday when it hosts Wawasee.
