Knights Topple Tiger Softball
Warsaw continues to hang around, but can’t find the offense to catch its opponents thus far. Tuesday, East Noble matched Warsaw’s lone run with five unanswered tallies to post a 5-1 victory in Kendallville.
Taylor Koegler hammered a three-run homer in the third inning and later doubled and scored in the fifth as East Noble rapped nine total hits and used one of three Warsaw errors to score its fifth run.
Warsaw got on the board in the third with its first run of the season when Grace Johnson smacked a double, scoring Abby Glass. The Tigers would only muster four hits in the game, one off Knights starter Taylor Peters and had back-to-back singles in the fifth off reliever Kirsten Wolf, but couldn’t get anything else going. Peters and Wolf combined for eight strikeouts in the game.
Warsaw starter Courtney Chookie gave up eight hits and struck out one in five innings of work. Grace Johnson worked the sixth for the Tigers.
Warsaw (0-3) will play again Wednesday at Fort Wayne Carroll.
