Lois May (Tomlinson) Steckley
Lois May (Tomlinson) Steckley, 86, Warsaw, formerly of Blackford and Grant Counties passed away at 8:15 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw. She was born on Monday, May 13, 1929, in Hartford City. She married John Steckley on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1976, at Calvery Temple, Fort Wayne. Mrs. Steckley attended Roll High school and graduated from Jefferson Twp. High School in Upland. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Pentecostal church in Auburn. She was loved and admired by her devotion to her family. She was a faithful member and praise leader of her church and well known for her cooking and baked goods. She enjoyed crocheting, and had a whimsical sense of humor.
Loving survivors include husband: John Steckley Sr., Warsaw; daughter: Pamela (David) Chastain, Warsaw; sons: Danny (Teresa) Tomlinson, Marion; Bill (Sandy) Tomlinson, Wilmington, N.C.; sisters: Mary Shrader, Hartford City; Carl Jackson, Gaston; grandchildren: Michael (Cindy) Tomlinson; Jeffrey (Shannon) Tomlinson; Shawn (Angela) Tomlinson; Aaron Tomlinson; Mark Tomlinson; Kirk Chastain; Derek (Anna) Chastain; Teal (Kenton) Blacksten; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother: Maxine (Foreman) Perkins; father: Chester Lee Perkins; and brother: Donald Lee Perkins.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker and Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor Street, Montpelier, from 2-4 p.m. Thursday April 14. A service to celebrate Lois’s life will follow at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 14, with Clarence Hand officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Montpelier.
