Helen M. Shipley
Helen M. Shipley, 96, formerly of Plymouth, passed away March 30, 2016 in Silver City, N.M.
Helen was born in Auburn Feb. 12, 1920, to Robert F. and Bessie (Inersol) Douglass. She became the bride of Wayne E. Shipley Aug. 19, 1939, in Kentland.
The Shipleys celebrated 62 years of marriage before Wayne preceded Helen in passing Oct. 23, 2001. Helen made many friends while working at Bosworth and 1St. Source Bank. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth, and Eastern Star Chapter 26.
Helen moved to New Mexico in 2009 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She was living at Sunset Vista at the time of her passing.
Helen is survived by her son and daughter in-law: Doug and Connie Shipley, Reserve, N.M.; her brother and sister-in-law: Don and Betty Douglass, Fort Wayne; two grandchildren: Bill Shipley, Culver, and Sandy (Ron) Stockberger, Argos; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
The Shipley family requests memorial contributions in honor of Helen be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Payshere Circle, Chicago, IL, 60674.
Van Gilder Funeral Home is in charge of the Plymouth arrangements for the Shipley family. Entombment will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum with her husband, Wayne.
