Shakespeare At Notre Dame Summer Events
SOUTH BEND — The summer months of 2016 will bring a variety of Shakespearian events to Notre Dame, including:
‘The Tempest,’
Shakespeare’s magical tale of shipwreck and salvation. Set during the golden age of sea exploration, the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival’s Professional Company production of “The Tempest” will be enhanced by modern circus arts including aerial acrobatics and wind illusions. The play will run Aug. 16-28.
Use code “Early” before June 1 when buying regular priced tickets to the first week of “The Tempest,” which is Aug. 16-21 and save $10 per ticket.

Explore ‘The Tempest’
Explore “The Tempest” with director West Hyler and members of the 2016 Professional Company cast and design team. Go behind the scenes, talk with actors and designers, visit the costume shop, walk the stage, and discover how we bring Prospero’s enchanted island to life.
The event is limited to two groups of 25. Identical tours will begin at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the Patricia George Decio Theatre.

The NDSF Young Company launches their epic adventure full of music, magic, and pirates. Both fugitive and castaway, Pericles’ fate depends on an ultimate test of faith. Can he can reclaim his family, his kingdom, and even the favor of a Goddess? Free in a green space near you. The play will run from July 17 through Aug. 22.

Explore ‘Pericles’
Go “beyond the stage” with “Pericles.” Talk with Young Company Director Cameron Knight and members of the Young Company cast and design team, learn what makes “Pericles” a play for our times, and discover how we bring Shakespeare’s epic sea adventure to life at outdoor venues across Michiana. The presentation will be at 7 p.m. Friday, July 8. It’s family friendly and all ages are welcome.

‘Shakescenes’
The NDSF Community Company brings fast and fun 10-minute takes on Shakespeare’s greatest hits. Over the course of one weekend, scores of actors from throughout the community, neighbors, friends, young and old alike, take to the stage with their own unique spins on Shakespeare. Free performances on Saturday and Sunday each offer a completely different series of “Shake”-scenes that are sure to inspire and delight the entire family. It is a free but ticketed event. The show will take place, July 16-17.

In honor of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s legacy (1616-2016), the Shakespeare Theatre Association and Shakespeare at Notre Dame invite you to commemorate the impact his works have had on your life.
