No Major Injuries In Tuesday Car, Motorcycle Accident
SYRACUSE — No serious injuries were reported Tuesday evening, April 5, after an accident involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.
According to police reports, a yellow 2013 Harley Davidson, driven by Ralph E. Wood, 40, South 15th Street, Goshen, was approaching the intersection at North Harrison Street and East Henry Street, Syracuse. At the same time, a white 2012 Mazda, driven by Haley E. Hawkins, 22, North CR 800E, Syracuse, approached and stopped at the stop sign.
Reports say Hawkins nosed into the intersection as Wood, who did not have a stop sign, was approaching. Wood saw Hawkins’s vehicle and attempted to stop and swerved but was thrown when the brakes to his motorcycle locked up.
Wood slid across the hood of Hawkins’s vehicle and fell to the pavement on the other side. He complained of soreness to his leg and ankle and EMS treated him at the scene. However, he declined transport to the hospital.
Hawkins told officers a line of trees obscured her vision at the stop sign. She added that she crept forward and braked when she saw the motorcycle.
