Helen M. Shipley
Helen M. Shipley, age 96, formally of Plymouth, passed away on March 30, 2016, in Silver City, New Mexico.
Helen was born in Auburn on Feb. 12, 1920 to Robert F. and Bessie (Inersol) Douglass. She became the bride of Wayne E. Shipley on Aug. 19, 1939 in Kentland. The Shipley’s celebrated 62 years of marriage before Wayne preceded Helen in passing on Oct. 23, 2001. Helen made many friends while working at Bosworth, and 1St. Source Bank. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plymouth and of Eastern Star Chapter 26.
Helen moved to New Mexico in 2009 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She was living at Sunset Vista at the time of her passing.
Helen is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Doug and Connie Shipley, of Reserve, New Mexico; her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Betty Douglass of Fort Wayne; also surviving are Helen’s two grandchildren, Bill Shipley of Culver; and Sandy and Ron Stockberger of Argos; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the Plymouth arrangements for the Shipley family. Entombment will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum with her husband Wayne.
