Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
11:48 p.m. Saturday, April 2, North SR 15 and West Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. driver: Katia Guerra Martinez, 21, North Old Road 15, Warsaw. Martinez’s vehicle spun out of control, hit a stop sign and rolled onto its roof. Damage up to $10,000.
10:27 p.m. Saturday, April 2, North SR 15 north of West CR 900N, Milford. Driver: Joseph R. Hamilton, 30, West Street, Milford. An oncoming vehicle lost control and spun across center, causing Hamilton to hit it. A passenger in the first vehicle identified the driver as Miguel Jimenez, Leesburg, whom officers were unable to locate. Jimenez’s vehicle was towed. Hamilton complained of pain to his hip and fingers but declined medical treatment. the passenger in Jimenez’s vehicle complained of pain but also declined medical treatment. Damage up to $25,000.
9:50 p.m. Saturday, April 2, West CR 1350N west of North SR 19, Nappanee. Driver: Norman I. Hochstetler, 19, Seventh Road, Bourbon. Hochstetler’s vehicle slid off the road and hit a fence. Damage up to $10,000.
7:21 a.m. Friday, April 1, South CR 400W south of West CR 750S, Claypool. Driver: Taylor E. Laughlin, 18, South Jannie Lane, Silver Lake. Laughlin swerved to miss a deer and her vehicle rolled into a nearby field. Damage up to $10,000.
9:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, North CR 100E and East CR 350N, Warsaw. Drivers: Melissa E. Croy, 35, East Barrington Place, Warsaw, and Patricia G. Tosch, 61, Rosemont Avenue, Warsaw. Croy became distracted and her vehicle rear-ended Tosch’s vehicle at a stop sign. Damage up to $5,000.
Silver Lake
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:45 a.m. Thursday, March 31, SR 15 and Sycamore Street, Silver Lake. Driver: Colen N. Hoffman, 59, Middle Drive, Indianapolis. Hoffman swerved to miss a vehicle that had braked in front of him, overcorrected and his flatbed truck overturned, spilling sheets of granite countertop rock and damaging a fire hydrant, decorative light poles, the sidewalk, the curb and nearby landscaping. Hoffman was treated at the scene for a minor abrasion to the forehead. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Two nearby witnesses, Kurt Coffman and Joseph Duran confirmed Hoffman’s account. Footage from a nearby camera also recorded the accident. Damage up to $50,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:21 p.m. Saturday, April 2, South Huntington Street and East Chicago Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Kaley K. Wood, 18, EMS D10Lane, Syracuse, and Miranda M. Wakefield, 20, East McClintic Road, Syracuse. Wood entered the lane as Wakefield was making a left hand turn and their vehicles collided. Wakefield was treated at the scene for chest pain. A nearby witness, Kayla Garber, confirmed that Wakefield had the yellow light.
9:49 p.m. Saturday, April 2, South Huntington Street south of West Maple Grove, Syracuse. Officers received calls of an unoccupied vehicle on the side of the road. Officers identified the owner as Myron Pamer, North Street, Topeka. Damage up to $5,000.
7:11 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 730 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Driver: Mickgomery W. Hisey, 25, EMS D24 Lane, Syracuse. Hit post. Damage up to $5,000.
