Thomas Confines, Intimidates, Batters Former Girlfriend
WARSAW — Michael Wayne Thomas, 23, 4100 W. Country Drive, Leesburg, was arrested on multiple charges after his former girlfriend told police what had happened earlier that day.
Charges against Thomas were filed today, April 1, in Kosciusko Superior Court. The charges are: criminal confinement, a level 5 felony; intimidation, a level 6 felony, battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor. The courts also issued a no contact order with the victim.
Initially police were called to a business for a report of an individual refusing to leave. Police found Thomas in the parking lot of the business, however he said he had not been asked to leave and was trying to talk to his girlfriend.
Police then spoke with the alleged girlfriend and learned of events that occurred earlier in the day. The female told police Thomas had been living with her, as if married, a while ago. After leaving, he moved back one week ago and has refused to leave.
He began calling her names when she came home from work that day and when she attempted to leave, he pulled her back into the apartment and threw her against the oven. She struck her head. He also held her head down and attempted to hit her in the face. However, she was able to get up but each time she attempted to leave, she was restrained and not allowed to leave.
Police were told Thomas threw her on the coffee table and against the wall, which hurt her back and arm. She reported after being thrown against the wall the pain was such, she could not move for at least 10 minutes.
After she told Thomas she had to return to work to close the store, he let her leave, but told her he would kill her if police were contacted. He then followed her to her place of employment where officials there notified police.
He was booked on a $10,000 surety and $1,000 cash bond.
