‘Criminalization Of Homelessness’ At IPFW
FORT WAYNE — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne student organizations will hold a fundraising and awareness event surrounding the issue of homelessness, particularly as it exists within Fort Wayne and greater northeast Indiana.
“Under the Bridge: The Criminalization of Homelessness” will be discussed with a special screening and panel discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Cinema Center, 437 E. Berry St.
This event is sponsored by IPFW Anthropology Club, IPFW Voices of Choice, IPFW Campus Feminsits in Solidarity and Triota.
The documentary will be followed by a panel discussion led by academic and outreach experts including:
- Larry Zimmerman, Ph.D., Professor of Anthropology, IUPUI.
- Donna Holland, Ph.D., Professor of Sociology, IPFW.
- Sally Sergerson, Ph.D., Street Reach for the homeless.
- Don Sawyer, documentary director, A Bigger Vision LLC.
- Rachel Rayburn, Ph.D., Professor of Public Policy, IPFW.
The event is free and open to the public, but donations for the homeless in Fort Wayne and to the sponsoring organizations involved in putting together this even are welcomed.
