Wawasee Softball: Flores Powers Warriors To Win
TOPEKA — Big. Bang. Boom.
No, it wasn’t the Fourth of July on Lake Wawasee, it was just the start of the season for Wawasee softball. The Warriors opened up with a 15-8 win Saturday afternoon over Westivew behind three homers from Allissa Flores.
Flores went deep in the fourth, fifth and six innings after starting her day with a double in the third. Flores also knocked in six RBIs. Seven Warriors had hits with Kylee Rostochak leading the way with five base knocks. Meghan Fretz had three hits of her own and five RBIs. Wawasee has 17 hits as a team.
Amber Lemberg hurled 128 pitches in a complete game effort for the visiting squad. The junior gave up four earned runs and fanned seven in her first outing since suffering a season-ending injury last year.
Wawasee is now 1-0.
