Samuel W. Cooper
Samuel W. Cooper passed away at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. He was 71.
One of six children, Samuel was born Aug. 17, 1944 in Muncie, Indiana to Lemuel and Helen (Cameron) Cooper. He was a 1962 graduate of Muncie Central High School.
He and Shelba J. Gunter were married Oct. 27, 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky. She survives.
A resident of Leesburg, Samuel was a mechanic with McGraw Equipment for 15 years retiring in 2012. He had also worked as a mechanic for Dennis Polk Equipment.
Samuel attended Agape Fellowship in Bremen. He enjoyed NASCAR and had raced at the Warsaw Speedway years ago. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Shelba, Samuel is survived by three sons: Rick (and wife, Vonda) Cooper, Eaton; Rusty Cooper, Eaton; and Eddie (and wife, Tammy) Stapleton, Warsaw; two daughters: Robin (and her husband Brad) Brenaman of Eaton; and Tina Rodenbeck (and her companion, Phil Schafer) of Marion.
Also surviving are three sisters all of Muncie: Carol; Ellen; and Helen Pear; and two brothers: John Cooper, Warsaw; and Ronnie Cooper of Cambridge City; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in passing by a daughter: Tonya Underhill, Aug. 9, 2010; brother: Danny Cooper; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Samuel’s life will be held at a later date. Gifts in his memory may be given to Shelba Cooper, c/o Titus Funeral Home, PO Box 705, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-0705.
