Cassandra Kay ‘Cassie’ Dillinger
Cassandra Kay “Cassie” Dillinger, 25, Claypool, passed away at 4:37 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
She was born on March 13, 1991, in Warsaw, to David Dillinger and Marsha Blankenship. Cassandra was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. She worked for Dairy Queen, Winona Lake for a short time. She also attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool, where she was baptized when she was younger. Cassandra attended Camp Nash and was involved with Choir and Theatre in high school. She also helped manage the boys wrestling team in high school.
She loved art, especially painting, reading poetry and spending time outdoors and hiking. She was a loving, strong and courageous person, never complaining while she battled kidney failure. She was very sassy and spunky and would “tell you how it was”. She was full of life and had a lot of spirit, even though she was ill. Cassandra loved her family, and especially her fiancé, Trevis, more than anything in the world. She enjoyed listening to her grandpa Blankenship play his guitar and would sing along with him. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandma Becky and her grandma Blankenship.
Cassandra is survived by her fiancé: Trevis Smith; her loving cats: Mr. Kitty; Little Man; Prince; and Coon, all of Claypool; her dad and stepmom: David (Patti) Dillinger, Elkhart; her mom and stepdad: Marsha (Paul) Roth, Silver Lake; six brothers and sisters: Charlie (Kayla) Vest, Warsaw; Michael (Nikki) Vest, Warsaw; Terri Lyn (Waldo) Dillinger Abreu, Fort Wayne; Paul ‘P.J.’ (fiancé Cindy) Roth Jr., Warsaw; Athena Roth, Winona Lake; and Carolyn ‘Cari’ Roth, Silver Lake; maternal grandmother: Sylvia Blankenship, Silver Lake; uncle: Wesley (Jaylene) Blankenship, Claypool; aunt: Jodi Karlynne (Tim) Metzger, Tazwell, Va.; four nieces: Clara; Amaya Cassandra; Judy; Sophia; and a nephew: Jax. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; maternal grandfather; her uncle: Harry Dillinger; her nephew: Paul Roth III; and her Pinky Dink Cat.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 21, in First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake. Visitation hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, March 21, in the church.
