Zuniga Arrested After Drug Bust
WARSAW — A Syracuse resident has been arrested for possession of marijuana after police searched a home where he had been living.
Zachary Zuniga, 21, 106 N. Huntington St., Syracuse, was booked Wednesday, March 16, for dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.
A Dec. 30, 2015, investigation led Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officers to a residence at 106 N. Huntington St., Syracuse, where an unnamed subject purchased methamphetamine from residents of the home.
According to court affidavits, several days later, Jan. 2, the same subject again purchased meth from a person living in the home. Officers learned Jan. 4, that the subject had made arrangements to purchase more meth at the same residence. The subject purchased the meth from Timothy Marsillett.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence. They searched one resident and found a plastic bottle containing heroin and a plastic bag also containing heroin. The resident’s wallet contained money used to make the purchase.
Officers continued their search in the living room and found five bags containing meth, a Sig Sauer 9 mm handgun, which was stolen. They also found a .410 Mossberg shotgun and a .22 caliber handgun.
Entering Zuniga’s bedroom, officers found a safe containing bags of marijuana and $690 in cash, which officers learned had mostly come from sales of illegal drugs. Zuniga admitted to living in the house and owning the safe, which he admitted contained marijuana.
Zuniga was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $8,850 surety and cash bond. He was previously convicted of possession of marijuana May 28, 2015, in Kosciusko County Superior Court II.
