Marcia Kay Cook
Marcia Kay Cook, 77, Nappanee, entered the gates of Heaven to be with her Lord, at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born April 24, 1938, in Nappanee to Katherine Mellinger.
Marcia was a lifetime resident of Nappanee. She graduated from Nappanee High School in 1956. Her first marriage was to Frank Reed. They were divorced. Her second marriage was to Lowell “Cookie” Cook, Sept. 18, 1976. He remained her loyal and loving husband until his passing in 2012.
Marcia had worked at Coppes Kitchens. She then worked at Dutch Village in Nappanee. Marcia was a member of First Baptist Church in Bremen and a former longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nappanee. She was a member of TOPS in Nappanee. She loved garage sales and antiquing. Eating at Athens Gyros in Nappanee was also a favorite of Marcia’s. Her daughter, Pam was the light of her life.
Surviving is her daughter: Pamela Jill Reed, Nappanee; their beloved cat: Previous; stepdaughter: Pamela Joy Dennis, Elkhart; brother: Gary (Kathy) Sturm, Lego; sister: Karen Sturm; nephews, all of Richland, Mich.; cousin: Linda Willis, Wakarusa. She was preceded in death by her mother and father: Katherine and Victor Sturm; first husband: Frank Reed; husband: Lowell Cook; aunt: Vera Mellinger; aunt and uncle: Mary and Robert Willis; and uncles: Cliffton and Delbert Mellinger.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service which will be at First Baptist Church in Bremen on Monday, March 21. Pastor Ben Hammond will officiate and burial will be in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church.
