Spring Classes And Events At The YMCA

WARSAW — Kosciusko Community YMCA will host spring classes April 11 through May 29. Classes for youth will include swim lessons, youth fitness and gymnastics classes for all ages. Registration for spring classes starts for everyone March 28.
Classes will include group exercise and Indoor group cycling classes for older adults and water aerobics in both the warm water and lap pools. Adult classes are included with a Y membership. In addition to classes, the Y is offering several events for all ages this spring, see the Welcome Center to sign up.
Upcoming events:
- 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 18, there will be a March Madness tourney viewing party free for ages 13-18.
- 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, teens are invited to join in on a free three-on-three basketball tournament.
- 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, teens will have a free movie night.
- 4:30-5:30 p.m. April 11 through May 29, the Y will offer “Girls on the Go,” for girls ages 10-17 to train together to run a community 5k.
- 1-3 p.m. every Friday, for active older adults, the Y has pickleball, free to Y Members and open to everyone of all ages.
- An adult three-on-three basketball league for those 18 and up will be offered Thursday nights starting March 24. Form a team of up to six players. Contact Zane Gard at [email protected] if interested.
- 6-7 p.m. April 11-May 23, The Y will offer two adult Spanish classes. Beginner Spanish will be a basic course offering introductory Spanish for adults. The class meets Mondays in the multi-purpose room 2.
- 7:15-8:30 April 11-May 23, intermediate Spanish will be offered Mondays, for those with past experience learning Spanish. The class meets Mondays in the multi-purpose room 2.
- 4:30-6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, to support those in our community going through cancer and their caregivers, the Y is hosting “Kathy’s Cancer Conversations,” a volunteer-led cancer support group in the Parkview Center for Healthy Living. On April 11, they’ll hear from an oncology-trained dietitian about using food to fight cancer. On May 9, the topic will be “Learning to Calm Your Mind.”
- 5:30-8:30 p.m. April 19, or May 17, CPR classes will be offered to the community. If CPR certification is needed for a job or if someone wants to be more prepared to handle an emergency they can sign up for this American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR class. The class will teach adult, child and infant CPR and automated external defibrillator use, but does not include first-aid. This three-hour class provides a two-year certification. There is a cost for participation and certification.
- 6-9 a.m. April 28, The Y and Parkview Health will offer free A1C tests in the Parkview Center for Healthy Living in the YMCA lobby. This test will help determine if a person is pre-diabetic. If they are, the Y is offering the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention class to keep it from advancing into diabetes. The class begins 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31.
