Fred Spilak
Fred Spilak, 91 of Warsaw, passed away at 6:23 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
He was born on Jan. 5, 1925, to John and Mary (Kaza) Spilak in Detroit, Mich.
He was a U.S. Army veteran honorably discharged, serving during World War II from March 1943 to November 1945. He served abroad for over two years in Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe as a Lineman.
Fred was united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1950, to Irene VanWagoner in Angola. He was a painter by trade.
Fred is survived by his daughter: LaVerna Webster of Warsaw; a sister: Joanna Spilak of Rochester, Mich.; his grandchildren: Mark (and spouse Teri) Skibowski of Warsaw; Kimberley “Kimmy” Lord of Pinconning, Mich.; and Jennifer (and spouse Chris) Voss of Gregory, Mich.; great-grandchildren: Amanda (and spouse Andrew “Andy”) Carboneau; Brittany Skibowski; Erin (and spouse Calvin) Bovia; Paul Curley; Brandon Lord; Katrina and Justin Jadzinski; he also has three great-great-grandchildren: Gavin Bodrie; Caleb and Collin Bovia.\
He is preceded by his wife: Irene, and three brothers: Walter, Edward and John Spilak.
Services and visitation will be private. Chaplain Bob Jarboe will officiate.
Burial will be private at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Mich.
The family is requesting that the memorial contributions be made to the Leader Dogs For the Blind, 1039 Rochester Road South, Rochester, MI 48307.
