Family Seeks Assistance Due To Tragic Loss
NORTH WEBSTER — Katy Bowser, 27, North Webster, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
It was just a little over a month ago, Tuesday, Jan. 26, that Bowser drove herself to Kosciusko Community Hospital saying she felt weird and the left side of her body was “tingly.” It was that same night she was transported to Lutheran Hospital.
While at Lutheran Bowser suffered a heart attack and, according to Katy’s family, the doctors told them that Bowser had had two heart attacks, and possibly a third. They were told her body couldn’t take another resuscitation. It was reported her heart attacks had left her with only 10 percent of her heart functioning.
A few days after Bowser was taken to Lutheran she woke, was taken off ventilation and able to communicate with her family by writing notes. It was reported that she was doing well. Though things seemed to be improving, the improvement proved to be temporary. The next day, Feb. 1, Boswer’s heart was reportedly only functioning at 5 percent and she was put back on ventilation.
Sunday, Feb. 7, Bowser was transported to St. Vincent Hospital to be under the care of cardiovascular specialists. According to her fiancé, Dwayne Cooper, Bowser was alert and she was able to eat some broth and jello. Cooper said Bowser was on the road to recovery.
Then Sunday, March 6, Bowser’s doctor asked her parents to come to the hospital to talk with him because Bowser’s health began to decline again. Her parents were told their daughter had blood clots running throughout her body and she wouldn’t be able to survive a heart transplant. The doctors reported Bowser has an undefined, genetic mutation that would prevent her from being a candidate for a transplant.
Bowser leaves behind two daughters, Brynn Zollinger and Kendra Renea Cooper and her Fiancé, Dwayne Cooper.
The family has started a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral costs. Donations may aslo be given to the Kathryn Bowser Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 72, North Webster, IN 46555. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
