Gabbards Found Growing Marijuana Behind Their Home
CROMWELL — A husband and wife have been arrested for not only maintaining a common nuisance, a level 6 felony; but also possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
Sidney W. Gabbard, 65, and Dawn L. Gabbard, 54, both of 11720 N. Rumpelstiltzkin Drive, Cromwell, were booked in the county jail Thursday afternoon, March 10. They are being held on $5,000 surety and $250 cash each.
Indiana State Police Lt. Chad Larsh filed documents with the courts on Aug. 24, 2015. He states on July 31, 2015, he was flying in a fixed wing aircraft and observed cultivated marijuana planted in rows behind the Gabbard residence. He went to the residence on Aug. 3 and identified Gabbards as the occupants.
Both acknowledged they had marijuana plants growing behind their home and both advised they had grown the plant last year, along with admission they had smoke marijuana the evening before. Sidney Gabbard stated he planted the plants from seed earlier in the year.
A search of the residence and the back yard resulted in the finding of 11 live plants, two prescription bottles containing marijuana seeds, two smoking devices and three smoking pipes, plant grinder, hand scales, a bag containing plant material and Miracle Grow.
The smokable plant material and marijuana had a total weight of 240 grams.
