Valley Salutes Winter Sports Award Winners
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley High School winter sports teams have handed out honors for the 2015-16 season.
The girls basketball team, which lost in the regional finals, saluted the following players: Anne Secrest (field goal percentage, rebounds, steals, captain), Brynda Krueger (free throw percentage, assists, captain), Addy Miller (3-point percentage, Most Improved), Meredith Brouyette (Mental Attitude, captain), Karis Tucker (captain) and Morgan Brazo (Booster Club).
Junior Alec Craig was tabbed as MVP for the boys basketball team, which was sectional runner-up. Craig also received the 3-point percentage and assists awards. Also honored were Jarod Duzenbery (field goal percentage, rebounds), Gavin Bussard (free throw percentage, Mental Attitude, captain), Neil Clampitt (captain), Trevor Neeley (captain) and Brandon Webster (captain, Booster Club).
Chase Brower earned MVP honors for the boys swim team. Other honors went to Jacob Wagner (Most Improved), Christian Baca (Mental Attitude), Camden Tucker (Rookie of Year), Tyler Ross (captain) and Travis Shull (Booster Club).
Katie Gunter was chosen as MVP for the girls swim team. She was also honored as captain. Also honored were Lea Stouder (Most Improved), Julia Pomeroy (Mental Attitude), Kinzie Prater (Rookie of Year) and Caitlyn Bailey (Booster Club).
Josh Back was tabbed as MVP of the wrestling team. Back was also honored for most pins and as captain. Other honors went to Jared Mikel (Most Improved), Isaac Randall (Most Improved), Chevy Teeter (fastest pin) and Dylan Warner (Booster Club).
Shayla Hoffman was named Most Outstanding for the cheerleading squad. Hoffman was also named a captain. Also honored with Hannah Becker (Mental Attitude JV), Dainara Witham (Mental Attitude Varsity, captain, Booster Club) and Maddi Cooper (Most Spirited, captain).
