UPDATE: ACCIDENT AT CR 700N, 200E, LEESBURG
LEESBURG — One person was transported to the hospital Wednesday evening, March 9, following a two-vehicle accident near Leesburg.
A gold 2000 Ford Focus, driven by Rebecca M. Burton, 26, North CR 475E, Leesburg, was northbound on CR 200E, approaching the two-way intersection at CR 700N.
Meanwhile, a brown 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Travis J. Hensley, 35, East CR 800N, Syracuse, was eastbound on CR 700N, approaching the same intersection.
According to police reports, Burton had a stop sign but Hensley did not. Burton continued without stopping and drove into the path of Hensley’s oncoming vehicle, which collided with hers.
The vehicles ended up in a nearby field. Hensley did not report any injuries but Burton was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital with complaints of chest pain. Reports did not specify whether Burton was cited for running the stop sign.
Indiana State Police, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Leesburg Fire Department and Lutheran EMS all responded to the accident.
Damage is estimated up to $25,000.
