He was born on Aug. 10, 1925, in Mentone, to Dean C. and Ethel (Tucker) Nellans. He was married on Dec. 17, 1964, in Mentone, to Jeannine Blue, she survives. Dean was a farmer and a truck driver.
He was a 1943 graduate of Mentone High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Warsaw American Legion. Dean enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, birds, his cats, and yard work. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include wife: Jeannine Nellans, Mentone; daughters: Sherry (Stan) Pequignot, Warsaw; Kathy (Lloyd) Morgan, Akron; sons: Randy (Aimee) Nellans, Rochester; Rusty (Kelly) Nellans, Mentone; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister: Juanita Paulus, Rochester. He was preceded in death by son: Sonny Nellans; sisters: Geraldine ‘Jerry’ Smith; Norma Jean Clauss.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Services begin at 2 p.m. Saturday officiated by Pastor Denny Bollenbacher and speaker Sunday Adelakin. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Warsaw American Legion Post.
