Warsaw Rugby Wins Tourney
MATTHEWS, N.C. – In a dominant show of force, the Warsaw rugby team shut out three opponents to win the Carolina Ruggerfest tournament.
Warsaw, comprised of 20 players from Warsaw Community High School, one from Triton High School and one from Whitko High School, battled against teams from North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Florida.
In game one, Warsaw smoked Mecklinburg Devas, N.C., 80-0, and came back in game two to pound Union-Philly, Pa., 54-0. In the final contest, Warsaw outlasted Sebastian, Fla., in a grinder, 10-0, to claim the tournament title.
Warsaw coach Dave Morales noted, “This year, they will be a team to contend with, as in the past four years they have had a great run in the state tournament each year.”
