Fred Howard
Fred Howard, 76, Bourbon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Fred was born the son of Homer and Edna (Allen) Howard on Jan. 6, 1940, in Magoffin County, Ky. He was a life long resident of the area . He was a trailer delivery driver for Fairmont Homes of Nappanee, and had worked at Morarity Pole Barns of Argos, and after retirement he worked at Wal Mart as a Maintenance person. In his spare time he enjoyed being a pilot, flying and being an instructor. He was a member of the Warsaw Gun Club and the Flying Club of Mentone, Indiana.
Fred married Donna Jean Scott at Knox on Sept. 30, 1960, and she survives along with their three children: Teresa (David) Barnes, Columbia City; Janet (Brian) Johnson, Argos; Kelly and Joleen Howard, Bourbon. He was further blessed with nine grandchildren: Karissa (Ryan) Gephart; Lanessa (Fiancé Jeremy Didier) Salazar; Anthony (Erin) Salazar; Derek (Candy) Tracy; Whitney (Casey) Girton; Kelsey (Tim Yuhas) Johnson; Tyson Howard; Linzie Gatchell; Taelynne (Justin) Ousley; Kenadee Howard; three sisters: Fafalene (Bill) Jenkins, Winamac; Iva Jean Minix, Knox; Sharon (JIm) Baker, Smithville, Tenn.; and brother: Roger (Phyllis) Howard, LaPorte. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Cliffton; Justin; and three sisters: Joyce Sallee; Carolyn Minix; and Mandy Howard.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11 in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Cottrill officiating Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Bourbon EMS or the Bourbon Fire Department.
